A: Pop Secret is excited to launch our Best Butter Ever! We have improved our butter recipes to give the best taste experience for our consumers. In addition, we have removed TBHQ, an artificial preservative. We hope you like it as much as we do!
Q: What is the shelf life of popcorn?
A: For optimum freshness and taste, we recommend the popcorn should be used by the “Best If Used By Date” that is stamped on the box. After this date we do not recommend using the product. The “Best If Used BY Date” is set based on when the kernels are expected to lose the water inside, which allows the kernels to pop. They are printed as day-month-year. Generally they can be located in a bright blue rectangle on the top left of the box panel where the tab says “LIFT TAB TO OPEN”.
Q: What is the best way to store popcorn?
A: Store in a cupboard that is in a cool place. Do not remove the cellophane overwrap on the bag until you are ready to use the package. Do not store in the refrigerator. Some say the cold storage makes the popcorn taste better, but many refrigerators contain little moisture and can dry out kernels.
Q: I am concerned about food allergies. How can I find out what is contained in Pop Secret?
A: The ingredient listings on all our packages are complete and accurate. The package should be read carefully if there is any question of possible allergic reaction. For dairy/milk, our products have the universal “D” symbol on the package to indicate the product contains dairy ingredients. For gluten/soy, all popcorn is free of glutens from wheat, rye, oats and barley. However, all of our products do contain corn gluten (modified corn starch). Our microwave flavor providers have also assured us that our flavorings are gluten-free as well. For peanuts/tree nuts, Pop Secret popcorn is produced and packaged at a facility that is free from tree nuts and peanuts.
Q: How does popcorn pop?
A: A combination of heat and steam is needed to make the popcorn “pop”. The inside of a popcorn kernel has a small amount of moisture that is surrounded by a hard coating. When the Pop Secret bag is heated in the microwave and the temperature reaches around 450°F, the moisture in the kernel turns to steam and the kernel explodes or pops.
Q: What is the best way to pop Pop Secret?
A: Do not rely on the popcorn button on your microwave. It is very important to follow the instructions on the box. Because microwave ovens perform differently, the popping time may vary with each microwave. It is important to monitor the time carefully and listen for the popping to slow down; about 2 seconds between pops indicates the bag is done. DO NOT LEAVE THE MICROWAVE UNATTENDED WHILE POPPING. STAY AND LISTEN.
